How to look after brow lamination
Looking after brow lamination in the first 24 – 48 hours
- Do not get brows wet for 24 hours
- Try not to excessively touch or rub the area for 24 hours
- While a little light makeup can be ok, avoid wearing heavy makeup on and around the brow for 24 hours
- Avoid contact with swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds and direct sunlight for 48 hours
What to do in the days before and after brow lamination
- Do not use exfoliating products, such as AHAs, BHAs and facial scrubs, or active anti-ageing ingredients, such as retinol, for three days before and after treatment
- Avoid fake tan, including gradual tan, for three days before and after treatments as it can cause the tint to turn a not-so-flattering shade of green
What do you put on eyebrows after lamination?
A conditioning serum should be applied twice a day after brow lamination. As it’s a chemical treatment, it’s crucial that clients apply conditioning products to maintain healthy hairs. The HD Brows Brow Miracle Daily Conditioner is a great option for brow lamination clients. Not only does it work to strengthen and condition hairs, but it also helps to prolong the wear of brow tint. For clients looking for something a bit extra, or those with dry, damaged brows, the HD Brows SOS Rescue Brow Balm can be applied once or twice a week as an intensive overnight treatment – like a hair mask for the brows.
We wouldn’t dream of going to the hairdressers and getting our hair dyed without buying the appropriate conditioner and maybe a mask as a weekly treatment. That’s exactly how we should be thinking about our aftercare regime for our brows after any form of chemical treatment. That’s why I love Brow Miracle Daily Conditioner and SOS Rescue Brow Balm for a weekly pamper. They ensure brows look on point in between salon visits, give longevity to lamination results and maintain healthy brows ready to receive their next treatment.

Brow lamination aftercare FAQs
Here are some of the other most frequently searched for brow lamination questions.
Can I get laminated brows wet?
Brows should not get wet for the first 24 hours after treatment. This means no swimming pools or baths, plus taking extra care when cleansing the face and taking a shower (avoiding them if possible). Water coming into contact with freshly laminated brows can interrupt the lamination process and affect the longevity of the results.
Can I wear makeup after brow lamination?
Heavy makeup such as concealer and foundation should not be applied around the brow for 24 hours. After waxing, threading or tweezing, hair follicles can remain open for 24 hours and applying heavy products could clog the pores and lead to breakouts. Plus, the area can’t get wet so it would be tricky to remove.
Can I go on a sunbed after brow lamination?
Sunbeds and direct sunlight should be avoided for at least 48 hours after treatment. Hair removal can leave the skin more sensitive, and exposure to UV rays could cause damage.
Can I remove brow lamination?
While brow lamination can’t be removed, it doesn’t set the hairs in place. It’s a common misconception that the hairs are locked into place, often a full, fluffy and brushed up finish. Brow lamination actually makes the hairs easier to manipulate, so hairs can be brushed back down into a natural look. The results will wear off after 6-8 weeks.
Be sure to talk to your clients about these tips whilst they are with you in the salon to ensure that they leave armed with all the aftercare knowledge they need to maintain their beautifully laminated brows until their next appointment.
