Emily Rhodes

About me

I'm Emily, I’m 26 years old and from West Yorkshire. Me and my boyfriend have been renovating our first home for 3 years.

I originally studied Fashion Marketing and Branding at university, but I’d always had a real interest in the beauty industry. When I graduated during the pandemic, finding a job was tough when everything was locked down. While I was figuring things out, I started helping my own lash tech with her marketing and social media. Being around her business and seeing the industry up close made something click. I fell in love with it, and I knew I had to train.

Brows have always been my thing (I even shaved mine off in school trying to get that 90s look... we’ve all been there!). So, I booked onto the OG HD Brows course and the rest is history.

Something about me: I’m addicted to Yorkshire Tea.

Fun fact: Cooking is my passion. I’m a self-processed home cook and love finding and making new recipes.

Before & After by Emily Rhodes

My key achievements

Starting a brow business is in the middle of a global lockdown as a fresh university graduate at 21 having never touched a face before was not easy, so to now be 5 years in fully booked, the winner of The Best Brows in Yorkshire 2023 and a qualified brow trainer is one of my greatest achievements.

Why I chose HD Brows

There was no question when it came to choosing brow training; HD Brows stood out from the rest. As a renowned and trusted brand, I knew I’d be getting top-tier education. And as a Yorkshire girl, choosing a Yorkshire-based brand? An absolute no-brainer!

My favourite pro product

It has to be SOS Rescue Brow Balm hands down! An absolute hero product, it’s great for soothing the skin after waxing, reducing redness and even for combating any unwanted grazing. It’s really an extra touch for client comfortability.

My favourite retail product

The Nouveau Lashes Lash & Brow Conditioning Serum is a must have for any brow lamination or lash lift clients. Throw that castor oil away!

Top treatment tip

Never get complacent with your consultations, even with regular returning clients. It’s the secret to great brows and happy clients every time.

Advice for starting in the beauty industry

Don’t just focus on perfecting your treatment skills work on building your personal brand too. Clients don’t just book a service, they book you and they come back not only because you’re good at what you do, but because of how you make them feel. Focus on creating a great overall experience, your personal brand is more than just your logo; it’s a welcoming space, friendly, professional communication and top class aftercare.
